VP #64: Rag Dull

Rag_Dull

I thought of this one while looking at the wash clothes in the bathroom. They looked like they were talking to each other as they hung next to each other. At the same time a doll ad was on TV. Rag Doll thus became Rag Dull.

VP #63: Miss Tic

VP_63_Miss_Tic

The mascot for Bismarck State College is a Mystic. I hear Miss Tic. I hope this doesn’t lead to any confusion at registration and possibly tic off some freshmen.

VP #62: Space Craft

VP_62_SpaceCraftNew

A friend of mine recently went to a NASA Space Camp where they got to do space things. How much fun would that be. It got me thinking of space puns. Here’s one for all you Astro-Nuts.

VP #61: Pulled Pork

VP_61_Pulled_Pork

I get a text from my wife that said: Pulled Pork, that would make a good Visual Pun. When I talked to her later I asked what her visual was. She said, “I don’t have one that’s your job, I just liked the phrase pulled pork.” I get that a lot. Here is my visual of pulled pork.

VP #60: Meating

VP_60_Meating

Meatings are very common this time of year as the BBQ Season reaches a crescendo. You don’t need a medium to look into a crystal ball to see this rare event. Simply look out your patio door at the grill on your deck to witness this spectacle. Remember as David Letterman always said: “Safety First!” Keep a clean environment while grilling and use a thermometer to determine when your meat is cooked.

VP # 59: Scentaur

VP_59_scentaur On those summer evenings or early mornings, with the windows opened, you get a whiff from a gentle breeze wafting through the screen, is it lilac? Is it apple blossoms? Next time that happens to you, quick as you can, scramble to the window to see if it might be the elusive Scentaur gallivanting through your yard. These creatures are rarer than sushi in northern Minnesota. Their rarity makes Bigfoot look like he has a population control problem. But if you do see one the word to describe it would be: Scentsational!

VP #58: Beach Trees

VP_58_Beach_Trees

What type of trees grow next to the shore line of lakes? Beech trees of coarse. Cold temps and rain is currently keeping us from the beach.

I found this quote and thought it fit well for a Visual Pun Mother’s Day tribute. Mom this one’s for you. I know your chuckling about this one.

For the last day of the art challenge I will share some current and past illustrations I’ve done. The first six images are of illustrations I’ve done for children’s books. I also did the layout and design of the books they appeared in. The gallery at the end of this post is a sample of visual puns I’ve done in the last year.
